First Communion Weekend At St. Ann

May 01, 2024

The celebration of First Communion is a natural time to remind ourselves of the

beauty and presence of Jesus in the Euchrist.

It is that time of year again. Where we celebrate First Communion, together,

with members of St. Ann. And a perfect time to remind ourselves of the gift

of the Eucharist. The word Eucharist comes from the Greek word eucharistia, meaning thanksgiving.

Of the seven sacraments, this is the moment in which we first receive the body and blood of Jesus Christ. The

Catholic belief in the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist is at the heart of this sacrament. We believe that receiving Holy Communion means we are truly receiving the true body and blood of Jesus Christ.

More than just a symbolic act, Communion is a deeply spiritual moment that connects us with God and

with each other as members of the Body of Christ. At St. Ann. We celebrate with a special Mass for our young people, usually second graders, after preparing to receive the sacrament through study, prayer, and reflection.

Family and friends prepare alongside them for this occasion.

Our Launch, Children’s Ministry creates the environment needed for these young Catholics, their families, and catechists to grow in faith and sacrament. It is important that the whole parish share in the joy of First Communion to recall the time when we received this blessing for the first time. And, to pray for each other as a church family.

Thank you to all who made this special weekend possible. Congratulations to the children and their families! Welcome to the feast.
