Pastor's letter
Dear Friends,
Are we a Church with a mission or a mission with a church? What would be your answer? Did the Church come first and then as a Church we set out to establish a mission? Or did Jesus preach a message that became the mission he handed on to his disciples to go out and proclaim? So that this mission be endless, God sent his Spirit on Pentecost and thus our Church was born? I believe the latter.
We are a mission with a Church. We are born and baptized into our Church that we might continue to preach the message of Jesus Christ. We are truly his ambassadors in our world. Without the Church, Jesus' message will never be heard. Without us his message dies. "Go therefore and baptize all peoples, in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit," was not spoken to the 72 disciples whom he sent out in pairs, but rather to the 7 times 7 times 70 - he was speaking to all people of all generations. Signum Datum! The command has been given, let us go forth and fulfill this privilege as well as this responsibility. We all share in the priesthood of Jesus Christ.
At this time, I once again want to thank all of you who are involved in so many ministries within the parish. You are awesome and what you do is awesome. May God Bless you as you live out your priesthood.
Sincerely,
Fr. Tom
