About us

Who are we?

We are a group of older teens who are have graduated 8th grade that are bound together by God and fun
Mission Statement:
Venture Crew 1776 is an organization that seeks to help High School Teens experience God through Outdoor Adventure and through fellowship.

What does Venture Crew 1776 do?
We do lots of activities we have an outing about once a month. Caving, Backpacking, Canoeing, White Water Rafting, High Ropes Course, Rock Climbing, Skiing, Skeet Shooting, and Sailing are among the many things we have done. If its exciting and its outdoors, weve probably done it.

Why should I join Venture Crew?
Its a lot of fun! You get to experience the outdoors through high adventure activities, learn new things about yourself, and meet a lot of great people.

Who can join Venture Crew?
Anyone who has graduated from 8th grade and is at least 14 years of age may join. Membership is open to both females and males. No previous outdoor experience is necessary.

Ive never done Outdoor Adventure; will I be out of my league in Venture Crew?
Absolutely not! Many Crew Members have done outdoor adventure before they joined. More experienced members and Adult Advisors will help you as you learn.

Do I need to buy expensive equipment?
Not unless you want too. You may want to get your own boots and sleeping bag. But you can borrow tents, backpacks, and other equipment if you dont have it.

My parents make me pay half is Venture Crew expensive?
Not at all. Venture Crew dues are $15 a year and cover liability insurance. Some Venture Crew Outings are free like our Canoeing trip down Talking Rock Creek. Some trips are moderately priced. Weekend Backpacking Trips are $15 and our Caving Trip was $35. Some Super Trips such as a 12 day canoeing trip to the Canadian Wilderness and the 10 day Grand Canyon Trip are slightly over $1000. There will be some opportunities to earn money through car washes and other fund-raisers.

My parents want to know Is this safe?
Safety is very important to the Adult Advisors. We want to get our teens home safe and sound. To go trips, everybody must get medical clearance. In order for trips to be approved by the Atlanta Area Council, there must be at least 2 Adult Advisors, a detailed trip plan, safety procedures in place, and qualified supervision (expert in activity). All Adult Advisors are trained in basic Youth Protection. Many Adults have CPR, 1st Aid, and Aquatic Safety training / certification. We even have a former paramedic in our ranks.

This sounds great. How do I sign up?
Come to our meetings. We meet on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month in St. Anns PSR Room 30. Or contact Oscar Aldana, Advisor, at his e-mail: E-mail or call 678-560-3956 for more information.
