Disciples on a journey. Lent at St. Ann

Feb 12, 2024

Lets Do Lent

Let’s do Lent
Lent is a season of renewal through the acts of prayer, fasting and almsgiving. Beginning with Ash Wednesday, it is a time of repentance in preparation for the resurrection of the Lord at Easter. We are disciples on a journey, invited to renewal during these 40 days of meditation.

During Lent, we experience opportunities for sacrifice and hospitality as we all seek the light of Christ. Share in the journey to sacrament with those being welcomed into the Church at the Easter Vigil. Be with us as we come together for our parish mission (visit our Parish Mission Website). Follow us as we are sent forth as lighthouses of hope for others seeking Jesus. At St. Ann, there is a place for you.

Ash Wednesday, February 14.

Mass Times:

6:30am

9:00am

*Noon

5:00pm

7:00pm

*Liturgy of the Word, where ashes will be distributed.

This begins the 40-day season of Lent that prepares us for Easter. It gives us a chance to ask God for mercy and forgiveness. We wear ashes to show that we want to turn away from whatever keeps us from God, and to have a change of heart, so that we can live in right relationship with God and each other.

Ash Wednesday readings

Joel 2:12-18 | Psalm 51 2 Corinthians 5:20—6:2 Matthew 6:1-6, 16-18

Read with us this Lent

Starting Ash Wednesday in the narthex, each family can pick up a copy of Matthew Kelly’s “Beautiful Eucharist." Encounter Jesus in the Eucharist so you can bea life-giving presence in the world.
